"Our" God Can Beat Up Your God

Ooo, I have an idea! Maybe we could not use any holy book when people begin their terms of service in Congress? Maybe we could haze them instead, and see if they choose to stay: a rush period for new congresspeople.

Conservative radio host Dennis Prager explains that it's okay for Ellison to have his own beliefs, as long as he acknowledges his beliefs are wrong:

It is not I, but Keith Ellison, who has engaged in disuniting the country. He can still help reunite it by simply bringing both books to his ceremonial swearing-in.

I think it's funny that that the country, at this point in its history, is going to be un-done (sorry, disunited) by Ellison's swearing on the Koran. Just think, we made it through a pretty damn serious war of secession some 140 years ago, only to be outdone by a Congressman from Minnesota swearing on a non-Biblical text. My what a fragile union we've become...

Ooh, wait are these comments disuniting? Perhaps I should retract them, lest the country should crash in upon itself as a result. Wait - I had a Bible in one hand while I was typing it (most laborious typing with one hand), so maybe my sarcasm gets a pass this time...

Bush was sworn in on a bible. That says a lot doesn't it?

Not necessarily. Maybe he couldn't read the title.
